The ADHD Assessment takes a thorough look at the spectrum of symptoms associated with Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). Challenges associated with ADHD have the potential to significantly impact a child's learning and academic performance, as well as their peer and family relationships.

We provide an online comprehensive clinical assessment for children and adolescents aged 6 to 18 years to investigate ADHD. A Psychologist conducts the assessment online via telehealth with the parent or carer and the child. Our ADHD assessment can result in a diagnosis of Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) if applicable and provides detailed feedback and recommendations for support. Medication cannot be prescribed, however, your report can be taken to a paediatrician/psychiatrist to discuss medication options if appropriate.

Our assessment process aligns with recommendations made by the Australasian ADHD Professionals Association in the Australian Evidence-Based Clinical Practice Guidelines for ADHD and focuses on the clinical assessment of ADHD symptoms. It does not include lengthy cognitive and academic testing as this is not always indicated and adds substantially to the cost, often delaying or preventing earlier access to treatment.

Our ADHD assessment includes:

  • Clinical interview with the parent or carer and the child online via video-conferencing to discuss concerns and gather background information and developmental history (approximately 1 hour)
  • Behavioural assessment involving standardised behavioural questionnaires, also to be completed by one of your child’s teachers
  • Comprehensive report with individualised recommendations for support and treatment
  • A diagnosis of Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder can be made (if appropriate)
  • Follow-up feedback consultation via telephone with the parent/carer to discuss the results, recommendations for support and treatment options.

We provide our ADHD Assessment online across Australia via telehealth and a referral is not required. Please note this assessment is conducted online only and requires either a computer, laptop, tablet or mobile phone with a functioning camera and microphone and a stable internet connection.

Once you book an ADHD assessment, a Psychologist will be in contact with you within 1-3 business days to gather information, send forms and questionnaires and book an online appointment for you and your child. At OPA, we offer shorter wait times allowing you to gain clarity and seek the support your child needs sooner.

*There is currently a 1-2 week waiting period

**Cancellations within 48 hours or no shows will incur a cancellation fee of the full payment amount.
