Dyslexia is a specific learning disorder (SLD) that is neurological in origin. It is usually characterised by difficulties with reading and spelling, typically resulting from a deficit in phonological processing. These difficulties are often unexpected in relation to other cognitive abilities and are not attributable to ineffective academic instruction.

Students with Dyslexia may experience difficulties not only in the school and learning environments but also in their personal development. Early identification of students at risk for Dyslexia is extremely important and a critical first step to providing these students with the additional support they require.

The Dyslexia Screening Assessment is a teacher rating scale of language and academic risk factors that provides a quick and reliable method for identifying students who are at risk for Dyslexia. It is suitable for individual or group administration.
